'The Great Gatsby' is a novel of re-invention, of youth squandered and romance amid vast, opulent wealth. In many ways, it was tailor made for Lana Del Rey.
The singer was recruited recently to work on the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann's interpretation of the novel, and responded with 'Young & Beautiful'. All breathy vocals and sweeping arrangements, it features prominently in the highly anticipated motion picture.
Acting almost as a teaser in itself, the song's mood of decadence and lost innocence mirrors the themes of F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel.
Now the track has received the visual treatment. Fairly low key by Lana Del Rey's previous standards, the clip for 'Young & Beautiful' nonetheless features the singer performing amid a vast orchestra.
