Lana Del Rey has shared a snippet of new song 'Looking For America', written in response to mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton.
The singer will release new album 'Norman Fucking Rockwell' on August 30th, featuring 14 new songs.
The creativity doesn't stop there, though, with Lana heading straight into the studio with collaborator Jack Antonoff over the weekend.
Writing new song 'Looking For America' in response to recent mass shootings, it was directly prompted by incidents in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio.
Sharing a snippet on Instagram, she writes:
“Now I know I’m not a politician and I’m not trying to be so excuse me for having an opinion – but in light of all of the mass shootings and the back to back shootings in the last couple of days which really affected me on a cellular level I just wanted to post this video that our engineer Laura (Sisk) took 20 minutes ago.”
A plaintive yet urgent vocal, Lana Del Rey sings:
“I’m still looking for my own version of America / One without the gun, where the flag can freely fly / No bombs in the sky / Only fireworks when you and I collide / It’s just a dream I had in mind...”
