"For right now, I think I’m going to just keep my circle a little bit closer..."

Lana Del Rey has de-activated her social media accounts.

The American artist has always had a love-hate relationship with social media platforms, embracing their intimacy while also rejecting their toxicity.

A row last year pushed Lana back to the forefront of this conversation, and now - with new album 'Blue Bannisters' mere weeks ago - she's decided to pull the plug.

Lana Del Rey placed a short clip on Instagram explaining her actions, before de-activating all of her social media accounts.

She said: “That is simply because I have so many interests, and other jobs I’m doing that require privacy and transparency.… For right now, I think I’m going to just keep my circle a little bit closer.”

Lana added: “I’m still very present and love what I do. I am absolutely here for the music...”

Fans were quick to respond:

'Blue Bannisters' will be released on October 22nd.
