Lamb Of God Singer Released From Custody

Randy Blythe will still face trial

Lamb Of God singer Randy Blythe has been released from custody following his arrest over the death of a fan.

Two years ago, a Lamb Of God show ended in tragedy. Singer Randy Blythe was seemingly rushed by an over eager fan, who then fell from the stage. Cracking his head, the fan then passed away in hospital some 14 days later. Returning to Prague last month, Randy Blythe was detained by authorities on suspicion of manslaughter.

The case made headlines far beyond the metal world, with fans largely supporting the singer. Now Randy Blythe has been released from custody, after meeting bail conditions set down by local authorities. (Blabbermouth via The Quietus)

The frontman paid around 8 million Czech Koruna (almost £250,000), and flew back to the United States. The singer’s lawyer Martin Radvan dismissed suggestions that Randy Blythe could disappear rather than face trial.

“There would be posters with his picture all around the world, and if he wants to continue performing, he will have to return. And he wants to return because he believes he is not guilty of anything he has been charged with.”

At the time of his arrest, Lamb Of God’s management argued that the case was unfounded. “This incident deals with a fan that three times during a concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head.”

Elsewhere, Lamb Of God’s publicists stated that Randy Blythe has been “wrongly accused, lawyers are dealing with it, and we expect him to be fully exonerated”.

The case is ongoing.
