Lamb Of God singer Randy Blythe has been arrested in Prague following the death of a fan.
Two years ago, a Lamb Of God show ended in tragedy. Singer Randy Blythe was seemingly rushed by an over eager fan, who then fell from the stage.
Cracking his head, the fan then passed away in hospital some 14 days later. Returning to Prague over the weekend, local authorities made the decision to detain Randy Blythe on suspicion of manslaughter.
Lamb Of God’s management made an initial statement to press, designed to clear up some misleading rumours.
Denying that a fight occurred, the statement insists “no formal charges have yet been made”, and that “the case is only in the investigation stages.”
“This incident deals with a fan that three times during a concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head.”
Elsewhere, Lamb Of God’s publicists stated that Randy Blythe has been “wrongly accused, lawyers are dealing with it, and we expect him to be fully exonerated”.
Speaking to fans on the band’s Twitter page, guitarist Mark Morton said: “Finally HOME! 4/5 of us anyway… Thanx for all the support yall!”
A full statement is expected later today.
