Lady Chann is set to release her new double A-side single ‘Equilibrium / Informer’.
Remaining stubbornly underground, UK Dancehall is beginning to break out of its self-imposed limitations. High profile Jamaican stars such as Vybz Kartel have given the scene renewed prominence, with Lady Chann leading the charge of British talent.
Real name Chanelle Williams, Lady Chann has been quietly catching attention for some time. Working with London’s Suncycle Crew, the singer’s half-spoken, half-sung style marked her out from the off.
With hype rising around the Dancehall talent, Lady Chann is ready to drop a new double A-side single. ‘Equilibrium / Informer’ is set to be released in January, with the London singer pushing her music forward.
Taking her cue from the bashment style, Lady Chann nods towards American R&B but with a heavy Jamaican vibe. Throughout, though, the singer has a definite London identity, as if her music couldn’t come from any place but The World’s End estate.
