Lady Chann is set to release new single ‘Treble To Your Bass’ on February 21st.
The UK dancehall scene is a law unto itself. Existing on its own terms, the scene has spawned a raft of producers, toasters and more who can challenge the Jamaican originators of the sound.
The Queen of UK dancehall is arguably Lady Chann. A founder member of the Suncycle Crew, the singer has recorded a series of cuts which have pushed a British identity over the dancehall sound.
Releasing ‘Sticky Situation’ last year, Lady Chann teamed up with Sheffield maverick Toddla T. Becoming an anthem far beyond the dancehall scene, the singer is now ready to issue her long awaited follow up.
Teaming up with newcomers Mojam – producers of Professor Green’s ‘Monster’ – forthcoming single ‘Treble To Your Bass’ will be difficult to ignore.
Available through Dun Dem Records, the track contains Lady Chann’s effortless blend of garage, dubstep and dancehall. A true original, ‘Treble To Your Bass’ is one of the finest cuts the singer has put her name to.
Out next month, the single contains a rare remix from UK Funky star and all round bass innovator Marcus Nasty.
Recently completing a UK tour with Kano, Lady Chann is now focussing on her debut album. Producers are rushing to work with the London artist, who has confirmed the involvement of Skream, Toddla T, Benga, Doorly and more.
A typically varied affair, Lady Chann is almost ready to drop her new album. Already tipped as a major breakthrough, the LP should be ready by late Spring.
