Flame haired singer La Roux has issued a stunning blast against her competitors, despite her singer riding high in the charts.
La Roux has been one of the year’s most successful newcomers. Debut single ‘Quicksand’ marked her out as a rare talent with a distinctive voice, generating considerable hype around her forthcoming album.
However it was subsequent release ‘In For The Kill’ that cracked the charts wide open. La Roux’s emotive vocals and wheezing synths have become one of the soundtracks to 2009, especially given Skream’s spectacular dubstep remix.
The electro star is currently at number two but is already looking ahead. Her debut album show see its release later this year, while La Roux’ next single is already announced as being ‘Bulletproof’. Watch it HERE!
You would think that all that success would make the singer happy, but recently it’s been all moan, moan, moan around La Roux’s patch. In one interview the singer blasted radio stations for refusing to playlist her, claiming that they have mis-underestimated her voice.
Now it seems that her chart competitors are the next to feel her ire. In a new interview with NME the singer claimed that she has little time for mainstream pop.
“I must be honest, I’m not overly positive about it,” she said. “To me, pop music has always had two sides. It’s always had the Backstreet Boys side, music for kids, the novelty tracks and one-hit-wonder side. And the other side is the classier side such as David Bowie, The Beatles, Prince and Michael Jackson.”
“I just feel like this side is missing too much, and have a lot of this boy/girl band, novelty song, one-hit-wonder going on. And I’m not gonna lie, I am not a massive fan of R&B as you can hear by my music, and there is a lot of that in the charts at the moment, so I don’t listen to the charts that much.”
La Roux’s single ‘In For The Kill’ is out now.
