West London riser Kyra has shared her new single ‘blossom spring’.
The songwriter’s debut project ‘Xanadu’ luxuriated in beauty, blending neo-soul flavours with aspects of jazz improvisation. Reminiscent of Millie Ripperton at times, Kyra very much lives by her own rules, and as a result her creativity carries a palpable sense of originality.
Perhaps peers would include Kadhja Bonet, or Allysha Joy, a voice acting at the forefront of soulful expression, while still containing aspects of the classic.
New single ‘blossom spring’ moves forwards, and it’s a gorgeous return. At times it comes close to the legacy of Amy Winehouse, before dipping into more left-field climes, a perfectly executed example of UK soul.
“I’ve always been enchanted by cherry blossoms which are a symbolic flower of the spring, a time of renewal and the fleeting nature of life,” explains Kyra. “Amidst the pain of loss and grief, I find joy in nature’s intricate details as the cycle of life continues, allowing us to feel connected with loved ones who are no longer in the physical realm.”
Tune in now.
