Kwaku Asante has always been around music.
It was gospel in the church, and soul in the house, with the North West London riser growing up listening in to his family's parties.
Coming of age in fine style, Kwaku matches funky guitar rhythms to pop-centric melodies, all twisted together in his own style.
Taking his cues everywhere from neo-soul to Stateside trap, his soulful approach is set against a vital street level edge.
Currently working on an array of projects, Kwaku Asante leaps into the fray with new bumper 'Molasses'.
A song that discusses empowerment and self-discovery, director Satya Zoa picks up the camera to craft a stellar new video.
She explains: "Kwaku and I met whilst he was supporting my friend Amber Mark’s European tour. Immediately I was struck by his charisma and feel good aura. When he first played 'molasses' I felt these two same qualities oozing through the track and I wanted the video to reflect that."
"We used POV angles to create a feeling of intimacy for the audience to feel as though they were the 'character' going through Kwaku’s party. Just like the way we met, everything was organic: the crew, cast and team are all friends."
Tune in now.
Catch Kwaku Asante at London's Omeara on October 18th.
