KT Tunstall In BNP Shock

Step-father stands as candidate

Scottish singer KT Tunstall has revealed her horror after her step-father announced he was standing as a candidate for the BNP.

The British National Party may have smoothed over many of their rough edges in recent years, but to many the organisation are simply beyond the pale. Campaigning in areas of racial unrest, the party are seen to be capitalising on fear and mis-trust.

Now KT Tunstall has been caught up in a new row after her step-father was unveiled as a candidate for the BNP. The singer was put up for adoption by her half-Chinese mother, only being re-united with her family in 2006.

Carol Ann Orr had re-married, with her new husband standing for the BNP. David Orr is set to campaign for the BNP in Livingston, causing huge embarrassment for the singer. Previously, KT Tunstall has campaigned on behalf of Barack Obama as well as playing left-wing dates with Billy Bragg.

Speaking to The Herald, David Orr revealed that he wanted a referendum on capital punishment as well as a clampdown on immigration.

“Between 2001 and 2004, the Labour Cabinet tried to flood the country with immigrants to try and change the whole of society.” He added: “They (immigrants) tend to have more children than the indigenous population.”

Continuing, Orr explained that KT Tunstall doesn’t agree with his views. “Katie (KT) doesn’t agree with our policies. She’s one of the greenies, the yoghurt knitters. We see Katie when she’s up on tour. When she found out that I was standing for the British National Party, it was a quick stand back.”

A spokesperson for KT Tunstall said: “Katie abhors the BNP and what it stands for. She is not in contact with David Orr.”
