Kreayshawn's debut album 'Somethin’ ‘Bout Kreay' has flopped, with reports indicating that it sold a mere 3,900 copies in its first week of release.
Kreayshawn has always been a divisive figure. The rapper's internet persona has caused multiple rows, including a much publicised fall out with Lil B. So when her debut album 'Somethin’ ‘Bout Kreay' finally saw the light of day last week, knives were already out.
Given a critical mauling, it seems that the steam ran out of the major label campaign almost instantly. Failing to make an impression on the charts, reports yesterday (September 27th) indicate that the full length sold a mere 3,900 copies.
To compare:
– Mumford & Sons new album 'Babel' is on course to sell 600,000 copies in the United States this week
– Kreayshawn's 'Gucci Gucci' video has been viewed more than 300,000 times
All in all, a fairly disastrous performance. As FACT point out, the web lit up last night with doubters coming out of the woodwork across the globe.
In response, Kreayshawn retreated to her Twitter feed where she wrote: "All I can do is pursue my dreams."
Here's 'Gucci Gucci'.
