Koteri’s ‘Fortune Green’ Is An Ode to Communal Power

A soundtrack to late summer evenings...

London-based trio Koteri – comprised of founding members Abdallah Diab, Dinar, and Jordan Spiro – have shared their second single, ‘Fortune Green’.

Following their debut release ‘Karnaby‘, ‘Fortune Green’ is a piece of vapourised, funk-tinged soul featuring Abdallah’s sister Jana on guest vocals. Silky-smooth and effulgent, the track captures the free-flowing communal power at the heart of the collective.

Speaking on the single, Koteri say: “‘Fortune Green’ feels like sticky rain during the heart of summer – an ode to the sweet season. As Koteri, we’re a workshop with open doors, proud to release this new record with Jana on vocals.

Their namesake is a play on ‘Coterie’ – a small group of people with shared interests or tastes. Formed in 2018, Koteri bonded over Arsenal F.C. and hip-hop. Their eclectic tastes derived from their multi-ethnic backgrounds fed into their collaborative work; Frank Sinatra, Mika’s ‘Life in Cartoon Motion’ and The Black Eyed Peas’ ‘Elephunk’, Bollywood soundtracks, and Brazilian bossa nova giant Sérgio Mendes are some of the trio’s early influences.
