Knucks Embraces His Wild Side On ‘Nkita’

The MOBO award-winning rapper is back...

Northwest London rapper/producer Knucks has today shared a new single ‘Nkita’, his first release of 2024.

Pronounced [n -kí-tá], the insurgent anthem produced by Kare, represents a subtle sonic pivot for Knucks who ropes in rising rapper Fimiguerrero for a staccato-sharp, low-slung fusion anthem.

Speaking on the single, Knucks says: “‘Nkita’ means dog in Igbo, my native language, and is generally used as an insult like “wild animal”. This song represents embracing that wild side and owning that title as someone who can be composed and put together but also has that wild savage side.

In 2022 Knucks released his critically-acclaimed LP ‘Alpha Place‘ which featured in the top ten of CLASH’s Album of the Year List. Writer Ana Lamond credited “the deeply personal anecdote,” which gave the green light for “drill and jazz to co-exist as one,” further crediting the intricate storytelling, player anthems and genre-blending collaborations with the likes of M1llionz, Stormzy, SL, Youngs Teflon and Ragz Originale. The album debuted at No. 3 on the UK Album charts, and tied with Little Simz’ ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’ as joint winner of the MOBO’s Album of the Year.
