Klaxons Single Details

Suicide tribute confirmed

Nu rave group Klaxons have confirmed that they are set to release a single in tribute to punk legends Suicide

Klaxons broke through on the back of a dramatic stage show and barrel-load of hype. The synth heavy band were credited as pioneering the ‘nu rave’ genre, which was quickly dismissed by everyone involved.

Yet Klaxons have endured as a creditable musical force. Debut album ‘Myths Of The Near Future’ was a huge success, claiming the Mercury Music Prize. Helping to push dance back into the spotlight, the group’s singles were a treasure trove for remixers.

However since the album’s release little has been heard from Klaxons. The band retreated to the studio to work on new material, which was promptly rejected by bosses at their record label.

Returning to the studio, Klaxons have knocked out a cover of a classic track by Suicide. The legendary New York band have been the subject of many tributes this year, with singer Alan Vega turning 70.

The label Blast First has organised a series of singles, with many huge acts paying tribute to the futuristic synth-punks. Bruce Springsteen contributed a version of ‘Dream Baby Dream’ while Primal Scream also doffed their cap to the band.

Klaxons are the next in line for the singles series with a version of ‘Sweetheart’. The song originally appeared on the band’s second album but has now been given a Klaxons style makeover.

Available as a download and a strictly limited edition vinyl release, the new single will be accompanied by a specially designed sleeve.

Klaxons will release their version of ‘Sweetheart’ on October 19th.
