Kinks To Reform – Claims

Ray Davies to work on new material

Legendary British group The Kinks could be set to reform, according to songwriter Ray Davies.

The Kinks are one of Britain’s most iconic songwriting teams. Banned from touring in the United States due to visa difficulties the group instead turned towards England for their inspiration, resulting in a series of acclaimed albums.

Later taken up as a primary influence by groups such as Blur, The Kinks output remains one of the most iconic products of the 60s. Enjoying a lasting career the band finally split in 1996 but have been dogged by reformation rumours.

Now in a new interview singer Ray Davies has claimed that he wants to work on new material with his brother Dave Davies.

“I suggested he do some low-key shows to see how well he can play. If we’re going to play together again, we can’t hit the road straight away with a big-time announcement,” Ray Davies told British tabloid News Of The World.

“But, if Dave feels good about it and there’s good new material that we can write, it’ll happen” he continued.

Ray Davies later confirmed he is working on an album of duets, before discussing Julien Temple’s forthcoming biopic of The Kinks. “I don’t mind who plays me – so long as they’re not too good-looking!” Davies said.

“It’s going to have to be an actor with a bit of character rather than looks. Someone good-looking – that wouldn’t work for me.”
