Kings Of Leon have ruled out appearing on smash hit American television show ‘Glee’.
The talent show format has infected the very base of popular culture. ‘The X Factor’ is now an institution, with its bizarre vision of reality spawning the American ‘High School Musical’ style show ‘Glee’.
An international success, ‘Glee’ has mangled the British charts for over a year now. With a new series approaching many famous acts have been invited to take part, although some are less keen than others.
Speaking to the NME recently, Jared Followill revealed that Kings Of Leon had knocked back the show. Preparing to release their new album ‘Come Around Sundown’ this Winter, the band have refused to allow their back catalogue to be used in ‘Glee’.
A rejection for the show, ‘Glee’ co-creator Ian Brennan has hit back by arguing that Kings Of Leon were never approached.
“The Kings Of Leon thing I didn’t really understand because we didn’t approach them,” Ian Brennan, the show’s co-creator, told The Canadian Press. “I don’t know where that came from.”
Continuing, the ‘Glee’ writer bemoaned the scale of press speculation over the new series. “I would say probably 80 per-cent of the people who you heard are going to be on Glee is probably news to us” he said.
One band who will appear are The Beatles. Sir Paul McCartney recently revealed that he is keen for the Fab Four’s back catalogue to be used in the show, splitting fans with his decision.
Meanwhile, Kings Of Leon are gearing up for the release of their new album. ‘Come Around Sundown’ is due to be released on October 18th, with new single ‘Radioactive’ emerging online last year.
Set to return to the UK after completing a North American tour, Kings Of Leon have confirmed a series of British dates throughout December.
