American acts are still occupying the pole position in the official UK charts after Kings Of Leon and Metallica were revealed as topping the singles and albums charts.
Kings Of Leon’s “Sex On Fire” has retained the UK number one singles slot. The first track to be released from the group’s quite superb fourth album “Only By The Night”, the song has once again kept former number Katy Perry in second place.
In the album chart, thrash legends Metallica remain at number one with “Death Magnetic”, despite the protestations of fans and a plucky Swedish journalist who maintain that the CD version has been poorly mastered. Further down the charts, plucky Scots Glasvegas fall to number six, while the new Streets album only reaches number seven. Lucky for some, but not for Mike Skinner who once upon at time ruled these charts as an unholy demi-god.
With Oasis’ new album almost upon us, the group’s ‘best of’ “Stop The Clocks” has re-entered the charts at number 28 as anticipation mounts for what the Gallagher’s have labeled their best since their glorious early years. Can it live up to the hype? Only time will tell.
