Current UK chart sensations Kings Of Leon have spoken about their religious upbringing, with frontman Caleb Followill praise the faith of their childhood.
The band consist of the three Followill brothers and their cousin, who were raised by the Followill’s preacher father. Their music is imbued with the cultural iconography of the South, but while many bands pay lip service to the rodeo Kings Of Leon cut their musical teeth there.
In an interview with British red top The Daily Star Caleb Followill was drawn on the issue of his religious upbringing and had the following to say:
“Our favourite thing to do is to create music because we were somewhat deprived of it while we were growing up, due to religious standards.”
“Now, whenever we get in the studio, someone will play one riff and before you know it, like, literally, within 15 minutes, we all have our parts.”
Kings Of Leon are currently number one in both the British single and album charts, with new album ‘Only By The Night’ selling an astonishing 220,000 copies in its first week, making it amongst the biggest releases of the year.
