Kings Of Leon Hint At New Direction

Brit winners shake things up

Brit award winning group Kings Of Leon have hinted at a possible new direction for their new album.

Kings Of Leon enjoyed a fantastic night at the Brit awards on Wednesday (February 18th), performing to an ecstatic crowd as well as scooping two awards.

The band’s fourth album ‘Only By The Night’ has been a phenomenal success, selling by the bucketloads in their adopted home of Britain. The United States has famously been slower to warm to the group’s charms, but the album still breached the Billboard top ten.

Not content to stand still, the band are discussing their new album with ‘Only by The Night’ still riding high in the charts. Speaking at the Brit Awards, singer Caleb Followill told BBC 6Music “I think we are definitely considering doing something that people aren’t gonna expect from us.”

“Like I said in our speech, because of England and because of our fans here – who made our name and made us the band that we are – we pretty much now can do what we want. America has to sit back and go, ‘Well we don’t like it but alright here you go’.”

Brother Jared Followill added that “the next album that we make, that we’re already working on, I can assure you, is one that I’m the most excited about.”

Kings Of Leon’s new album is pencilled in for a 2010 release.

UPDATE

Reports are emerging that Kings Of Leon fought each other backstage at the Brits. After some baiting between band members brothers Caleb and Matthew Followill had to be pulled apart by security men. The Sun states “it was like a proper old fashioned bar-room brawl.”

“They weren’t messing about, there were some serious punches being thrown.”
