Kings Of Leon Deny Frontman Sacking

Caleb Followill still in the group

Kings Of Leon have denied reports in the American press that they have sacked Caleb Followill.

These are worrying days for fans of Kings Of Leon. A recent American tour shuddered to a halt after Caleb Followill stormed offstage in Dallas, leading to the cancellation of a number of live appearances.

If reports are to be believed, the cancellation of the tour will cost insurers up to $15 million and could make future live events difficult to fund.

Now Kings Of Leon have been forced to deny reports that they had sacked Caleb Followill. The singer is at the centre of the row, with numerous sources claiming that the singer has been asked to enter rehab.

Nothing has been confirmed as yet, with American gossip rag Star Magazine reporting that Caleb Followill has been sacked. Writing on Twitter, Nathan Followill seemed to find the funny side.

“BREAKING NEWS: Kings Of Leon has kicked Caleb out and Jared and Matt will be taking over lead vocals. Where do people come up with this shit? Hilarious.”

Recent documentary ‘Talahina Sky’ features scenes of drunken debauchery from the group. Caleb Followill is frequently shown out of sorts, at one point making a bleary eyed confession for the camera.

The scenes have taken on a new relevance given the rumours surrounding the band. Director Stephen Mitchell told MTV that he has no regrets about leaving the footage in the documentary.

“No, and for the record, I might have been more drunk and stoned than Caleb during that interview. I think it was an amazing conversation, and I think there’s a lot of the film that, looking back, (I) have regrets about showing this or doing that” he said. “We made our decisions a while ago and we’re sticking to them and living with them.”

Continuing, the director admitted that Kings Of Leon may have found the scenes difficult to watch. “I guess the only thing I can say is we put the honesty out there and hopefully people at least respect the boys for not bullshitting them.”
