Kings Of Leon Album Success

Band Sell 80,000 Copies On First Day

US indie rock titans Kings Of Leon have seen their latest album ‘Only By The Night’ fly off the shelves, selling 80,000 copies in a single day.

The current holders of the coveted top spot in the UK singles chart with ‘Sex On Fire’, Kings Of Leon look almost certain to hit number one in the albums chart. New album “Only By The Night” may well be their best yet, a huge leap forward for a band who have improved with every album – and their first wasn’t too shabby either.

“Only By The Night” looks set to be one of the year’s biggest selling albums, with over 80,000 copies being sold in the first day. The current record for first week sales in the UK this year is held by Coldplay who sold a staggering 302,000 copies of “Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends”.

A spokesman for HMV is predicting sales of around 250,000 for the first week, a sign of just how big this band have become. Kings Of Leon spent the summer playing headline slots at some of the UK’s biggest festivals, including Glastonbury and T In The Park, wetting fans appetites for new material.
