Las Vegas indie titans The Killers are set for a busy summer, after the confirming the release of their new single ‘The World We Live In’.
The Killers have enjoyed a stunning year since the release of their new album ‘Day And Age’. Led by Brandon Flowers, the group made the jump from indie concern to mainstream giants with ease, lead single ‘Human’ tearing up the charts.
ClashMusic has been with The Killers every step of the way, and brought you a special early interview with the band to celebrate their success.
Since then The Killers have toured almost non-stop, visiting central Europe, Australia and their native United States before turning back towards Britain. All that touring has left the group exhausted, however, with reports suggesting that Flowers has been forced to intervene to stop his bandmates from arguing with one another.
However that hasn’t stopped Flowers from taking a swipe at other groups. In a recent interview the singer laid into Nirvana, claiming they made rock depressing. At a recent War Child benefit show, though, Brandon Flowers demonstrated he could work with other groups in an all star performance featuring Coldplay, Bono and Gary Barlow.
The Killers last visited our shores in February, for a tour that broke records with an astonishing 150,000 tickets flying out of the shops in just two and a half hours. Brandon Flowers took time off the tour to help Pet Shop Boys pick up the Brit Award for ‘Outstanding Contribution To Music’ singing a duet with the band during the show’s finale.
The band have confirmed a number of festival appearances over the summer. The Killers will join Oasis at V Festival before heading North to T In The Park. The group haven’t played the Scottish event in some time, and will no doubt be given a warm welcome by their huge fanbase.
The Killers are due to release their new single ‘The World We Live In’ on May 18th.
