Kendrick Lamar Drops New Drake Diss Track ‘6:16 In LA’

Kendrick Lamar has shared new Drake diss track ‘6:16 In LA’.

The row embroiling North American rap’s MVPs shows no signs of abating. Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Metro Boomin and Future’s song ‘Like That’ set the internet on fire, appearing to hit out at Drake and J Cole.

As ever with K Dot, the penmanship was sublime – it took fans some time to unpick the multi-layered references and cryptic insults, with metaphor packed upon metaphor as he played this language in a visceral yet also enigmatic way.

J Cole hit back with a diss track of his own, before deleting it. With expectation mounting, Kendrick Lamar went for the jugular on ‘Euphoria’, a no-holds-barred diss track that attempted to annihilate Drake’s reputation on a host of different fronts – including his art, his personal relationships, and his credibility.

Social media speculation suggests that Drake could be set to release a diss track of his own tonight (May 2nd) – but Kendrick has got in there first.

Indeed, a bar on ‘Euphoria’ suggested that the Compton rapper might like to go for a back-to-back record – and he has, with the release of second diss track, ‘6:16 In LA’.

An uncompromising takedown, it suggests that members of Drake’s team – including people at the OVO label – are supporting his fall, with Kendrick rapping: “Have you ever thought that OVO is working for me?”

He adds “everyone inside your team is whispering that you deserve it” before rapping: “100 guy that you got on salary, and 20 of them want you as the casualty”.

Later he warns the Canadian rapper: “It’s time you look around and see who’s really around you…”

So, when will Drake hit back? According to DJ Hed it is “confirmed” that the Canadian artist will release a “hit” record tonight – May 3rd. Stay tuned.
