Kele Okereke's journey through British music has resulted in a singular catalogue.
Driving Bloc Party forwards, his own solo dalliances have resulted in some curious experiments.
New solo album – his fourth, to date – 'The Waves Pt. 1' is out now, and it could be Kele's most revealing project to date.
Unable to tour due to the pandemic, he recently organised a special live-stream; a one off show, shot in East London, featuring superb performances of songs from his new LP, alongside a few bonus cuts, too.
We're able to share one of those bonus cuts, and it's a good 'un – Kele has decided to re-visit 'This Modern Love', one of the highlights from Bloc Party's seminal debut album 'Silent Alarm'.
Kele performs the song entirely solo, just his guitar, and amplifier, and that voice; a gorgeous, plaintive, and affecting take on the song, it returns to its emotional core.
Watch the performance below.
