Kele Confirms New Single Release

'Everything You Wanted' out soon

Bloc Party singer turned solo star Kele Okereke has confirmed details of his new single ‘Everything You Wanted’.

Kele Okereke was always an unwilling frontman. Lacking the machismo or bravado of Liam Gallagher, he at times seemed to always shy away from attention.

Hiding behind Bloc Party’s music, the singer frequently cut a shy figure onstage. However turning solo seems to have energised Kele Okereke, with recent single ‘Tenderoni’ finding a new confidence.

An electro-pop stomper, it was inspired by trips to kickboxing classes. The new found physicality feeds into his debut solo album ‘The Boxer’ with the aptly titled release being released last month.

Confirming a host of headline shows, Kele recently played an in house date at Rough Trade East. Previewing his new album, Kele turned preconceived notions of his indie boy image on their head.

Amongst the new tracks previewed was the forthcoming single ‘Everything You Wanted’. A much more elegiac flavoured piece, the track is buoyed by delicate piano and glitchy beats while the lyrics are gently confessional.

Remixes on the single include productions from Fred Falke, RAC, Disco Of Doom and South African house guru DJ Mujava. Upcoming shows include headline dates at London’s Village Underground, as well as a number of festival slots.

Kele is set to play at the Reading and Leeds festival, as well as a special slot alongside Underworld at the iTunes festival in London.

Kele is due to release his new single ‘Everything You Wanted’ on August 16th. Upcoming shows:

6 London Village Underground
8 Newcastle Digital
12 Bristol Thekla
13 Nottingham Ultra
14 Birmingham Academy 2
17London Roundhouse
