Keeley Forsyth Announces New Album ‘The Hollow’

It's out on May 10th...

Keeley Forsyth will release new album ‘The Hollow’ on May 10th.

The UK artist is lauded for her acting work, but Keeley Forsyth’s songwriting carries a unique intensity of its own. Now working with Fat Cat Records imprint 130701, her new album ‘The Hollow’ takes her work in a fresh direction.

Out on May 10th, it’s led by beautiful new song ‘Horse’, with its scorched sonics and exacting sense of detail. Able to frame a narrative with just a few words, Keeley Forsyth’s brooding vocal pivots between beauty and a fractured sense of menace.

The song was prompted by themes of domestic duty, poverty, love, and compassion viewed through the prism of Bela Tarr’s final film, The Turin Horse. Indeed, Keeley contacted the film’s composer Mihály Vig to ask for permission to ‘reimagine’ his score from her own aesthetic vantage point.

She sings: “The fire must keep / My father must sleep / Around this house I creep…”

In a note, Keeley Forsyth comments…

“With this track, I roamed, capturing vocals in different spaces, forging a connection as I sang. I imagined battling against an invisible force, facing down challenges, pressing on, determined to breathe in this. I chose to refuse to be shackled by the chains of language here, surrendering instead to the primal dance of my body’s urges. My mouth moves in sync with the shallow breaths of my gut, and impulse guiding my every wordless utterance.”

Tune in now.
