Kay Young and Ego Ella May combine on new single ‘Woe It Me’.
Kay Young is a multi-genre pioneer, someone who can move from shuddering club-facing production to sultry neo-soul in the blink of an eye. Recently signalling her return, new EP ‘We Meet At Last’ lands on April 14th via Play it Against Sam.
A dose of all-new ideas from this sonic voyager, Kay Young’s new era opens with a dose of jazz-leaning alt-R&B. The pensive, chilled ‘Woe Is Me’ deals in intoxicating future soul, with the production carrying a Dilla-esque warmth.
Constructed alongside the wonderful Ego Ella May, ‘Woe Is Me’ finds two Black British queens refusing to succumb to their sorrows.
“With this project and new era, I feel I’ve arrived as an artist” Kay comments. “I’m all about not limiting myself this time. I’m trusting my judgement and instincts. I’ve met that person I’ve always wanted to be. This is it.”
Tune in now.
