Katie Kim has shared new album ‘Hour Of The Ox’ in full.
The record documents a period of personal change, with the songwriter relocating from Ireland to New York. A song cycle that discusses highly personal aspects, the album manages to transform this into something universal.
Backed by lush strings, Katie Kim’s songs are rooted in synths, with a taut use of minimalist drums. Often spartan in tone, the album represents a definitive place and time in the artist’s life.
Mixed after returning to Ireland, ‘Hour Of The Ox’ is framed by longing, and a need for something different in her life.
She comments…
‘Hour Of The Ox’ is a collection of quiet moments that began alone, in flow, that were then generously reconstructed and reinforced with TMT steel. A sort of time capsule recorded over a period of time that was unforgiving and vengeful.
Tune in now.
