Canadian singer Kathleen Edwards has confirmed plans for a new single and a tour with Bon Iver.
Very much an independently propelled force, Kathleen Edwards has spent the bulk of the past ten years producing fascinating music. Fuelled by the folk styles of her native Canada, Edwards’ music has a genuinely personable charm which keeps her away from the acoustic-bearing pack.
Working on fresh material, the singer recently completed work on a new single. ‘Wapusk’ was recorded for Canada’s National Parks Project, with Kathleen Edwards taking charge of production duties.
It is the B-side which could finally gain the songwriter recognition outside of her native Canada. ‘Change The Sheets’ was recorded with man-of-the-moment Bon Iver, who seems to be going through a phase of collaboration of late.
Holing up in his Falls Creek studio, Justin Vernon recently recorded a cut with James Blake and has now supplied some deft orchestration for Kathleen Edwards.
The resulting track ‘Change The Sheets’ is a quite beautiful work that allows the Canadian singer’s voice to remain at the fore. Very much an equal collaboration, the B-side comes as Bon Iver invite Kathleen Edwards on tour.
Opening with a show in Manchester on October 19th, the tour hits Dublin the following day. Reaching Edinburgh’s Usher Hall on October 22nd, the shows continue with back-to-back performances in London.
Taking place at the Hammersmith Apollo on October 23rd and 24th, the tour finishes with shows in Leeds and Bristol.
