Kassa Overall Shares Remarkable New Song ‘Going Up’

New album 'ANIMALS' is incoming...

Kassa Overall has shared his new song ‘Going Up’.

The creative visionary impressed across two bold studio LPs, with 2020’s multi-faceted ‘I Think I’m Good’ pilfering from jazz, left-field electronics, avant hip-hop, and more. Working with Warp Records, new album ‘ANIMALS’ doubles down on this frenetic creativity, exploding multiple creative definitions in the process.

Out on May 26th, new song ‘Going Up’ represents another preview of his breathless artistry. Skittering electronics, breakneck drums that recall OutKast’s ‘Elevators’, and additional vocals from Francis and the Lights.

In a moving twist, saxophone comes from the mighty Tomoki Sanders, who sound evokes the spirit and legacy of their father, Pharoah Sanders.

Of the parent album, Kassa Overall comments…

“We call ourselves humans, right? But we kind of do animalistic shit towards each other. We justify immorality by almost stripping people of their humanity. He’s an animal, so we can treat him as such.  All these different kinds of little questions in these songs point to questions about humanity: am I free? Or am I a circus animal? These questions intersect with the way I think about race.”

Tune in now.
