Kasabian guitarist Serge Pizzorno has helped Noel Fielding construct the soundtrack album to his latest comedy venture.
The Mighty Boosh and Kasabian go way back. So when Noel Fielding began work on a new comedy show, it was only natural that he would recruit guitarist Serge Pizzorno to assist on constructing the soundtrack.
‘Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy’ is set to première shortly, with Noel Fielding recently reflecting on the soundtrack.
“We’re going to put it out as an album” he told the NME. “We’re not going to make the songs into massive lumbering tracks, we’re just going to have it really short, because they’re like little pop songs. Make it really crazy and put it out quick, maybe do a couple of gigs.”
Pizzorno, meanwhile, was typically enthusiastic: “I’ve never seen anything quite like it. It’s going to bend people’s minds beyond belief.”
Meanwhile, Kasabian are ending another hugely successful year. The band released new album ‘Velociraptor!’ before completing a typically epic arena tour. Speculation recently linked the group with a support slot on the Stone Roses re-union tour, something Serge Pizzorno has rejected.
“Do you think we’d honestly support The Stone Roses? No. No” he told the Evening Standard. “That the big festival headliners have been Pulp and Blur lately shows the number of great bands that are left.”
Reflecting on their recent tour, the guitarist revealed that the band’s new songs have been going down a storm during live performances. “We’ve nailed ’em. We’ve got these big marching songs, like a stampede of rhinos coming at you. People get this glory feeling from our gigs.”
Continuing to look ahead, Serge Pizzorno explained that Kasabian don’t want to be tied to the past. “I don’t want us to have a sound or a way that anyone expects us to be. Since the start it’s been very hard to pin us down. I’d hate to make an old song mark two – that depresses the fuck out of me.”
