Kasabian Guitarist Quits, Joins Beady Eye

Jay Mehler to play bass in new line up

Kasabian guitarist Jay Mehler has decided to quit the band in order to join Beady Eye.

The new Beady Eye album has already gone in some strange directions. During interviews, Liam Gallagher has talked up the band's experimental whims, while the involvement of arch-indie producer Dave Sitek – also of TV On The Radio – on production duties raised hopes that this might, just might, be something different.

Now the band have gained a new bass player. Jay Mehler has decided to quit Kasabian, swapping guitar duties for bass in a re-jigged Beady Eye line up. The band lost touring musician Jeff Wooton earlier this year, after the bass player left to pursue other musical activities.

Here's a statement from Kasabian:

"Jay is our bro we’re all good and the last six years have been mega. He’s moving on and will be incredible in Beady Eye. We thought posting an awesome video was the best way to let you guys know that he will be missed, but here it is in black and white too."
