Karen O Married, Works With Trent Reznor

On a version of 'Immigrant Song'

Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer Karen O has revealed that she recently got married to long term partner Barnaby Clay.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs may be on down time, but Karen O is refusing to slow down. The singer recently unveiled her opera ‘Stop The Virgens’ in New York, with plans for a London instalment already in preparation.

However it seems that the singer has something more personal on her mind. Karen O has been romantically linked to director Barnaby Clay for some time, and recently the pair decided to get married.

Speaking at the launch of Rocked: An Exclusive Photography Exhibition by Mick Rock in New York on Wednesday (December 7th) Karen O was stopped by US Weekly. Asked about her relationship, the singer replied: “I’m a married woman.”

In addition to her opera, Karen O has also taken part in sessions for a new film score. Trent Reznor was entrusted to piece together the soundtrack for ‘The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’ and asked the Yeah Yeah Yeahs singer to contribute.

Providing guest vocals for a pounding, Industrial take on the classic Led Zeppelin track ‘Immigrant Song’ the singer had apparently never explored the seminal hard rock band’s output before.

“I plead total ignorance to Led Zeppelin. I am totally in the dark about them” Karen O told The Sun.

“That was the reason I could muster up whatever it took to actually cover that song. I didn’t have any reverence for the track as I didn’t really know it. When they asked I thought it was called ‘The Pilgrim Song'”.

Continuing, Karen O described her performance as “angsty”. “When I went into the studio to record the song I was feeling pretty angsty. I poured all my torment into the track as Trent’s section was pretty rad. It’s ballsy with the primal scream in there which was really fun and liberating to do”.
