Karen Elson Prepares Debut Album

Jack White's wife gears up for release

British model turned singer Karen Elson is to release her debut album ‘The Ghost Who Walks’ through husband Jack White’s Third Man label.

Born in Oldham, Karen Elson rapidly emerged as one of the UK’s top models. Working with a series of top designers and fashion firms such as Chanel and Versace, the young British model has walked runways across the globe.

Harbouring ambitions to create music, Elson made her first appearance on record in 2003 providing vocals to Robert Plant’s ‘Last Time I Saw Her’. In addition to this the model sang a duet with Cat Power for a Serge Gainsbourg tribute album.

Now Karen Elson has confirmed details of her first solo album. ‘The Ghost Who Walks’ contains some eleven tracks, which were apparently inspired by the model’s relocation from New York to Nashville.

Settling down into family life, Karen Elson had two children with husband Jack White. Finding time to focus on music, the model turned singer crafted a series of fragile melodies while working in a closet in her bedroom.

At the encouragement of Jack White, Karen Elson entered the studio last year. The result is a powerful album featuring a raft of guest appearances. Moving from country to blues and beyond, ‘The Ghost Who Walks’ is adorned by music from The Dead Weather’s Jack Lawrence on bass, My Morning Jacket’s Carl Broemel on pedal steel and brother-in-law Jackson Smith on guitar.

Never one to miss out on a collaboration, Jack White took the role of producer and provided drums. Due for release through Third Man Records, ‘The Ghost Who Walks’ is a powerful first album from a very unique talent.

Karen Elson is to release ‘The Ghost Who Walks’ on May 24th. Tracklisting is as follows:
