Kanye West Wins Brit

Bigs up Obama

US hip hop don Kanye West won ‘Best International Male Solo Artist’ at last night’s (February 18th) Brit award ceremony, and name checked Barack Obama in his acceptance speech.

2008 was an incredible year in the life of Kanye West. The ongoing court case surrounding his mother’s death troubled the singer, while a split from his long term partner left him nursing a broken heart.

Never one to shy away from adversity Kanye West channelled his feelings into his startling album ‘808s And Heartbreak’ before embarking on the mammoth ‘Glow In The Dark’ tour.

The rapper couldn’t be at the ceremony in person but instead filmed an acceptance speech.

“Yo BRITs! What’s up?” West said in his speech. “Barack is the ‘Best Inter-racial Male’ but I’m proud to be the Best International Male in the world.”

West is never one to let an occasion pass him by, and smiling added:

“That means every nation, right? So if you go to a club and you’re a girl and you see me… you gotta have the best!”

Typical!
