American hip hop supestar Kanye West has unveiled details of the lavish stage for his upcoming tour.
Kanye West doesn’t do things by halves. After talking about his love of fashion, the rapper announced his intention to withdraw from music and work as an intern with a designer. Settling for renowned Parisian fashion house Louis Vuitton, the rapper worked on a new pair of trainers which were unveiled at the prestigious Paris Fashion Week.
However it is for his music that Kanye West is best known and loved. The rap icon released his new album ‘808s And Heartbreak’ last year, splitting critics and fans alike. Much more sombre than previous albums, it marked a major departure for the star.
Eschewing rapping for an auto-tune enhanced singing voice, Kanye West endured ferocious criticism but may well have the last laugh. Auto tune has become the record industry’s favourite toy of late, with Jay-Z being moved to write his new single ‘Death To Auto Tune’.
Kanye West is currently preparing for a massive tour with electro pixie Lady Gaga. Twinning two of the biggest acts in the United Statets, the rap icon yesterday (June 29th) posted a blog which contained photographs of the lavish stage set.
Of his touring mate the rapper said “she’s talented and so incredible that she’s not an opening act. We’re doing it together, with no opening act,” West told ABC talk show ‘The View’.
Since the start of the year Lady Gaga has emerged as one of the world’s most successful pop talents. Her single ‘Just Dance’ was an enormous hit, scoring a number one on the British charts.
With her naughty demeanour and catchy songs, Lady Gaga has become a pop sensation. Perhaps a strange choice of touring partner for Kanye West, it is nonetheless a mouth watering proposition.
Last year’s ‘Glow In The Dark’ tour was a typically lavish affair. Featuring guest slots from Santigold, N.E.R.D. and many more, West triumphantly toured the world packing in crowds in some of his biggest venues to date.
