American hip hop don Kanye West could be set to collaborate with R&B singer The Dream.
Kanye West split fans and critics with his recent album ‘808s And Heartbreak’. Recorded in the aftermath of his mother’s death and the collapse of a long term relationship, West chose to eschew his usual rapping style in favour of singing.
The star’s subsequent global tour ‘Glow In The Dark’ was a massive success, however, combining West’s showmanship with his stunning back catalogue.
Kanye West made a guest appearance on The Dream’s new single ‘Walking On The Moon’ sparking rumours of a full collaboration between the two.
“Everybody is trying to talk us into it,” The Dream told MTV. “It was first thought of by me. I was in Miami at the time, and I gave Kanye a call and said, ‘The best thing would be for me and you to do an album.’
“I feel he’s at a certain place in hip-hop, I’m at a certain place in R&B, and lyrically, I’m just in a certain place in my lifetime.”
He added: “Let’s take the best of both worlds and put it on a CD and try to make something we can sell to the consumers. He says he’s with it. We’re gonna try to make it happen. I told him, ‘Let me lift my profile up a little bit’.”
