American hip hop star Kanye West has fallen out with Radiohead after the Oxford band supposedly snubbed him backstage at the Grammies.
West is a high profile fan of the band. A recent mixtape released online contained a remix version of a Thom Yorke solo track, while the rapper has also told the makers of a new documentary that Radiohead are one of the few groups who rival him creatively.
High praise indeed from the ever boastful West. However, according to Reuters West felt ‘snubbed’ by the group at the recent Grammy awards ceremony.
Apparently West wanted to meet the group, but failed. Feeling slighted, the rapper nonetheless teamed up with Estelle to perform her Number One single ‘American Boy’ at the Los Angeles ceremony.
Never one to let things lie, West explained: “So when he performed at the Grammys, I sat the fuck down.”
Radiohead performed their ‘In Rainbows’ track ’15 Steps’ with the University of Southern California Trojan Marching Band. The group were part of a British contingent that waltzed away with sixteen awards on the night.
Radiohead have yet to comment on the row.
