London jazz crew Kansas Smitty’s have laid out plans for new album ‘We’re Not In Kansas Anymore’.
The group hinge on the talents of Giacoma Smith, a hugely experienced figure within UK jazz. Perhaps not the biggest name out there, they’re certainly amongst the most influential – musician’s musicians, it seems that those who know, know.
Toasting 10 years together, new album ‘We’re Not In Kansas Anymore’ will be released on October 21st, and it follows 2020 release ‘Things Happened Here’.
Out on Ever Records / !k7, the intention is to make something broader. “I want people to feel a big range of emotion – I want people to see things”, says Smith.“There’s joy and there’s humour, but there’s also spirituality. There’s seriousness, there’s loss and longing – and those are all there on purpose. We’ve experienced them as a collective and I’ve experienced them as an individual”.
New cut ‘Bokeh’ is online now – the album opener, it’s a scorching fusion of distinct traditions, resulting in something quietly groundbreaking.
