Kaiser Chiefs are set to soundtrack the new channel launched by UK broadcaster Channel Five, it has been announced.
The group’s new single ‘Never Missed A Beat’ will be used in idents for new channel Fiver during October. The track is taken from the group’s new album, and was produced by Mark Ronson. The all-star affair also features the voice of foul mouthed pop starlet Lily Allen.
Fiver is to be Channel Five’s new youth orientated channel, and has previously been promoted by the likes of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five’s ‘The Message’ and Salt ‘N’ Pepa’s ‘Push It’.
The move has been taken by commentators as a sign of a new willingness within the music industry to work with broadcasters. Speaking to the Guardian industry figure Mark Boyd said “ten years ago the music industry charged a lot of money for music to be used in TV ads. Now times have changed and the music industry needs brands, advertisers and media as much as they need the music industry”.
Kaiser Chiefs’ new single ‘Never Missed A Beat’ was released today (October 6th) and will be used on idents for Fiver throughout October.
