Rumors of a new collaboration between Kaiser Chiefs and 80s star Adam Ant are circulating after the band’s frontman Ricky Wilson met his former idol at an awards ceremony.
Adam Ant’s two drum burundi beat sound cut a swathe through the early 80s pop, with his dandy highwayman image placing his face on the wall of every British teenage girl – and Ricky Wilson.
The frontman of Kaiser Chiefs met the singer at an awards ceremony and the two artists hit it off. Wilson told indie station XFM that the meeting could yield a songwriting collaboration. An awestruck Wilson said “I just met Adam Ant. We told him we liked his stuff because there’s touches of it on our new record. He said, ‘Oh, you should write me a song’. Nick said ‘That would be a good idea’, and he said ‘I’ll sing it in a minute’. As soon as he said it, I just thought that was a fantastic name for a song”.
However Wilson was keen to remind everyone that any possible collaboration remains up in the air, saying “will it happen? I doubt it, but it’s nice to fantasise of an evening”.
