Just Stop Oil In Taylor Swift Jet Protest

The protest group took action at Stansted airport...

Just Stop Oil have targeted private jets at Stansted Airport, just outside London.

The group aim to raise awareness of climate change, specifically the use of fossil fuels. In the past, Just Stop Oil have targeted a number of different sites – including Stonehenge just this week – in an attempt to keep the issue in the public eye.

This morning – June 20th – Just Stop Oil took action at Stansted Airport. In a note, the group explained that they believed Taylor Swift’s private jet had landed at the site mere hours before; in response, they broke in to the airfield, and painted several private jets orange.

Alongside this, Just Stop Oil have demanded an emergency treaty to end fossil fuels by 2030.

Watch footage of the action below.

Cole Macdonald, 22, from Brighton, is one of those who took action, and Just Stop Oil have posted a video featuring her testimony.

Taylor Swift’s use of private jets has sparked controversy in recent times. Online activist Jack Sweeney launched a tracker, and in 2023 the pop mega-star was reported to have flown 178,000 miles in her private jet, ranging from tour stops to small local journeys.

The coverage was viewed by some as a breach of privacy, with Taylor Swift’s team attempting to get the site taken down. Her attorney said Jack Sweeney’s social media accounts tracking celebrity jets constituted “stalking and harassing behaviour.”

Taylor Swift has not commented on the Just Stop Oil protest. Her Eras tour kicked off its UK leg at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium with three colossal sold out nights; she played London’s Wembley Stadum – the home of English football – this weekend.
