New additions to Irish event

The organisers of Oxegen have unveiled a host of new additions to the line up with Julian Casablancas set to perform a solo set.

Set in the rolling Irish countryside, Oxegen has become one of the largest events on the European festival calendar. Capable to drawing high profile performers, this year will contain more than a few surprises.

Already confirmed for this summer's Oxegen are Eminem, Jay-Z, Muse and Kasabian with organisers working night and day to add more acts.

The latest series of announcements sees Strokes' singer Julian Casablancas join the party. The Strokes are due to play a handful of dates this summer, including Scotland's RockNess festival.

However Julian Casablancas is still basking in the glow of his debut album, and has decided to bring along his band to Oxegen. A very special performance, Casablancas has played only a small number of shows in support of his solo album.

Meanwhile, grime icon turned pop star Dizzee Rascal is due to drop by the event. With singles such as 'Holiday' and 'Dance Wiv Me' the rapper can be relied upon to produce a festival anthem at will.

This year Dizzee Rascal is set to take time off recording, though the grime star is set to play a series of live dates.

By way of contrast, Laura Marling's lilting folk style is not have the Irish crowd flinging pints in the air. However the singer's latest album 'I Speak Because I Can' has won widespread acclaim and even broken into the UK Top Ten.

Basking in this new found success, Laura Marling has been added to the bill for Oxegen with more announcements due soon.

Oxegen takes place between July 9th - 11th.
