Joni has shared potent new song ‘Avalanches’.
The songwriter was raised in America, but is currently based in London. There’s a curiously trans-Atlantic feel to her music, with Joni picking out the pieces of two traditions that mean a lot to her in order to fuse her own style.
In a new move, Joni has confirmed a twin-label signing – she’s now working with UK-based Hand In Hive, and Stateside friends Keeled Scales.
Out now, the standalone single ‘Avalanches’ is a real statement, a fragrant, distinctly Autumnal piece of indie pop that recalls everyone from prime Feist through to Clairo’s perfume-esque constructions.
Luke Sital-Singh aided the song’s construction, and you can catch Joni at London venue the Lexington on November 26th as part of a Hand In Hive anniversary showcase.
Joni comments…
‘Avalanches’ is a song about the duality of love and heartbreak, and how you can’t really have one without the other. And despite all the pain, fear, exhilaration, risk, I’d do it all again and again and again…
Tune in now.
