Jon Bon Jovi has moved to quash internet based rumours that he had passed away.
Ah, the internet. Instant communication has brought the world closer together than ever, arguably playing a role in the pro-Democracy movement which swept across the Arab world this year.
But yet it’s also killed off Jon Bon Jovi. Swings, meet roundabouts.
The New Jersey rocker was the subject of intense internet based speculation last night (December 19th) following reports that he had passed away. According to the Los Angeles Times’ L.A. Now blog, an erroneous report from the site Dailynewbloginternational sparked the rumours.
Billboard points out that the report largely borrowed from the Los Angeles Times’ coverage of Michael Jackson’s death.
Not quite dominating the headlines right now, Jon Bon Jovi still has an enormous fanbase. Recently completing a massive world tour, the singer can still command audiences at arenas and stadiums around the globe.
The rumours caused a massive stir online, quickly finding their way into ‘official’ news feeds. Quickly moving to stamp out speculation, Jon Bon Jovi placed a new photo of himself on his Facebook page along with the following message:
‘”Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey” -jbj. Rest assured that Jon is alive and well! This photo was just taken.’
So there you go. Here’s Bon Jovi’s Christmas hit ‘Please Come Home For Christmas’…
