Johnny Cash Unearthed

'Lost' Prison Album Re-Issued

One of the last great Johnny Cash albums remaining out of print will be re-issued later this year, it has been announced.

The final of his trilogy of prison albums, “Live At Osteraker Prison” was recorded in a Swedish prison and released in 1973. Sadly, the album didn’t do as well as previous live efforts and went unreleased for 35 years.

Now re-issued, the album will be expanded to include the entire live set. The original live album removed songs already familiar to fans from previous Folsom Prison and San Quentin live albums, so classics such as “A Boy Named Sue” were left on the cutting room floor.

With a backing band that includes legendary rock ‘n’ roller Carl Perkins, the set is every bit as electrifying as Cash at his peak could be.

“Johnny Cash Live At Osteraker Prison” is released on March 24th.
