John Squire Exhibition

Guitar Presents Art

Former Stone Roses six stringer is set to unveil a new exhibition of mixed media art works on October 10th in SW1 Gallery it has been announced.

John Squire virtually defined the indie guitar sound with his plagent arpeggios and funky guitar lines, but less well known is his artistic background. As well as designing all the sleeves for The Stone Roses Squire also worked with Cosgrove Hall – an animation company responsible for Dangermouse, amongst others.

The new exhibition will continue a familiar Squire theme of exploring text and language within the context of a painting. To create these new works, the artist journeyed the streets of Manchester recording conversations with people he met. It’s these conversations that form the background of the paintings, with words and phrases from those people appearing on the canvas.

John Squire’s next exhibition won’t be until 2009, so this is a great chance to view an acclaimed artist working at the forefront of British art.

John Squire’s “Noise” exhibition runs between October 10th – November 2nd.
