‘Statement’ – a piece of art created by ex-Stone Roses guitarist John Squire – is to go on sale at auction on July 1, at Christie’s.
The 10 gauge steel box piece, including a hand-written statement from Squire revealing that he has no interest whatsoever in reforming the Roses (hence the name, y’see?), is the first piece of Roses-related art Squire has put up for sale. The note, word for word, reads: “I have no desire whatsoever to desecrate the grave of seminal Manchester pop group The Stone Roses”. It is signed and dated by Squire and mounted in a perspex box.
