John Lydon For Question Time

Punk icon to appear alongside Louise Mensch

John Lydon is set to appear on tonight’s edition of political debate show Question Time.

John Lydon has one of the most finely tuned bullshit detectors in British popular culture. The punk icon’s searing wit and unavoidable logic has turned many a hack into jelly, tossing out bundles of barbed wire into every conversation.

So news that John Lydon is set to appear on Question Time tonight (July 5th) has got the Clash office all excited. The PiL frontman is set to wade into the debate, alongside a typically varied cast of commentators.

The guests include energy and climate change secretary Ed Davey MP, former home secretary Alan Johnson MP, Conservative MP Louise Mensch, Sunday Times and Independent columnist Dominic Lawson.

Louise Mensch, of course, is already somewhat of a notorious figure on the chat show circuit. Outspokenly Conservative, her jibes at the Occupy London protests – for drinking coffee, no less – earned her the wrath of Have I Got News For You? duo Ian Hislop and Paul Merton.
